Mikey Burton did a thesis project redesigning classic literature book coves that are directed at teenagers. I’m really liking the covers. They all have illustrative approach which I think is appropriate. Check out his site.
My Wonderful World of Fashion
14 MarI was at chapters maybe two weeks ago and was just browsing until I saw this cover. I knew I had to have it. It is an interactive colouring book with illustrations by Nina Chakrabarti. The illustrations are just fun and sophisticated. I can’t help but smile and do some oohs and ahs when looking through. However, I just can’t see myself writing or colouring or drawing on it at all. Maybe trace over it but it’s a coffee book all on its own. The best part is anyone of any age would enjoy it.
Classic Book Cover
13 Mar
It’s outdated but it’s a gorgeous cover. I enjoyed the book immensely. I think I learned to appreciate it more now than when I was in high school. Do high school students understand the book or care about it much?
It takes place in the 1920s during the jazz era
and it was a time of extravagance. There was lots of parties and people wanted to have fun. Basically, the author was writing about the moral decay of those chasing after wealth, the hollowness of the rich class, and of course the end of the American dream. I’m buying classic literature for my book collection. I can’t wait to start reading them again this summer.
Book covers!
22 Feb
We are going to be redesigning a book for editorial class, not all the pages but a selection of pages from it. I’m really excited about designing the cover. However, I haven’t quite made up my mind on which book I would like to redesign. There’s so many I would like to do and have fun with. Right now, I’m just looking at different book covers that I randomly come across and even people’s own list of beautiful covers.
